The night of 10th October 1911 was a pivotal moment in modern Chinese history. It was on this night when the Wuchang Uprising occurred, launching the revolution that eventually brought the Chinese imperial system to an end. The 1911 Revolution itself was the opening phase of a prolonged period of change that had a lasting social impact on Chinese society.
