Affordable Art Fair Singapore: Spring Edition

News

aaf

This spring, the Affordable Art Fair Singapore is back with over 70 galleries offering new and fresh works.

Joining in the galleries is the SG50 Feature Wall showcasing selected artworks from 50 artists at only $500. Fifty percent of the proceeds will go to Playeum, a registered charity that inspires play and creativity with children in Singapore, and 50% will go back to the artist.

With two specially crafted artist studios, visitors can interact with both traditional print and conceptual art in a fun, informative way. At the pop-up print studio and artist’s home studio, it becomes visible how a creative idea turns into a real life artwork.

At Art and Printmaking Studio, artists will create works on-site. Visitors are invited to try out one of the demonstrated techniques themselves and to take home their very own mini print.

The Art Fellas will be occupying a 570-square-foot signature black booth to exhibit artworks by over 18 artists, from renowned second-generation contemporary art veteran Yeo Siak Goon to post-modern pop artist ZXEROKOOL, as well as a portfolio of new artistic talents curated from the gallery’s Art Discovered programme.

aafThe Art Fellas will also be representing pop artist ZXEROKOOL, whose works constantly redefine reality in an interconnected world, and explore the relationship between technology and popular culture in the Post-Internet era. Having worked on public commissions for Nike, New Balance, MTV, as well as legendary Russian rock band Mumiy Troll, the artist has also been chosen as the Official Artist-in-Residence this Spring Edition by the AAF curatorial team. ZXEROKOOL invites visitors to journey into a voyage of contemporary Art Escapism and to participate in an experimental Instagram-Comic-Book-Cover-Art bonanza, where the first prize is a limited edition SINGA-PLEX print.

Also being exhibited are pieces curated from The Art Fellas’ Art Discovered programme, the gallery’s ground-up initiative that culminates into a biannual exhibition that serves as a stepping stone for burgeoning talents to receive feedback from, gain exposure to and be discovered by the art industry. Art Discovered. Art Discovered’s inaugural edition was successfully launched in February this year, and it will continue as a biannual affair for young talents.

The Art Fellas will also be holding a lucky draw for visitors to stand a chance to win a painting by emerging artist Danya Yu, bringing a dose of fun to this year’s AAF.

This Spring Edition is headed by its new director, Alan Koh, the Affordable Art Fair Singapore’s previous marketing manager since it arrived here five years ago.
