Art Stage Singapore announced that a branch of the fair will be established in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta. The fair will take place from 5 to 7 August 2016 at the Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel.
Art Stage Jakarta will complement the Singapore fair as a boutique art fair focusing predominantly on content from Indonesia and reaching out largely to Indonesian audiences and market. With a branch in Jakarta, Art Stage Singapore will be able to tap into a developed art market, reinforcing the six-year old fair’s strong ties with the international and regional art collector community.
“Indonesia is the heartbeat of Asia, injecting the region with energy, passion and creativity. It is the most active and influential art market in the region and is a leading centre of art production. Aligning our Singapore fair with our new branch in Jakarta, Art Stage Singapore will be able to offer seamless and comprehensive market opportunities as well as the latest cutting-edge content from the region. Art Stage Jakarta will be complementary to what we do in Singapore and will serve to strengthen the art market here,” says Mr Lorenzo Rudolf, Founder and President, Art Stage Singapore and Jakarta.
Art Stage Jakarta will feature up to 50 galleries, and will be significantly smaller than Art Stage Singapore. The new fair, together with Art Stage Singapore, will offer expanded opportunities for galleries to have presence in both Singapore and Jakarta. The fair will be headed by Fair Director Mr Leo Silitonga.
Art Stage Singapore, Southeast Asia’s international flagship art fair and the anchor event of the Singapore Art Week, will continue to be held in January. The seventh edition of Art Stage Singapore will take place from 12 to 15 January 2017 (Vernissage, 11 January) at the Marina Bay Sands Exhibition and Convention Centre.
