Held for the first time in Hong Kong last year, the Bank Art Fair will now debut in Singapore for its 2nd edition. The 2nd Bank Art Fair will be held at the Pan Pacific Hotel from 20th to 23rd November. More than 50 galleries are slated to take part in this one-of-a-kind exhibition, which will see art pieces displayed in a hotel room.
The Bank Art Fair adopts a unique approach of an exhibition in a hotel room. Each participating gallery will occupy one hotel room where they will display the various art pieces. These art pieces from emerging artists have been carefully curated by the participating galleries who have access to both regional and international markets.
One of the main aims of The Bank Art Fair is that it hopes to inculcate a more exclusive and intimate viewing experience with the art pieces being exhibited in a hotel room. As opposed to being displayed in an art gallery, such an organic way of exhibiting the pieces helps to bridge the gap between the artwork and the collector. It not only gives exposure to emerging artists, but also allows collectors a more up-close encounter with the works of art.
The Bank Art Fair will mainly showcase affordable artworks and is in line with its aims of supporting upcoming artists, as well as contributing to the flourishing art scene in Singapore. However, the fair is more than just a medium where art is showcased and appreciated. Through the art fair, companies and sponsors involved will also have a chance to build their corporate image in the same space as the galleries are exhibiting their art pieces. As an added benefit, discounted offers on the art pieces have been included as part of the sponsorship deal. The fair aims to encourage business to support emerging artists, while also bringing in collectible artworks from emerging artists below USD10,000.
