Proudly presented by Linda Gallery, this solo exhibition highlights the significant landscape paintings of Chinese painter Yin Zhaoyang (b.1970), focusing on his artistic impact and pictorial dedication to China’s natural surroundings. Yin’s elusive painting style surpasses physical beauty, putting detailed emphasis on his distinct Eastern style of abstract painting.
Yin evokes our fascination with nature, reflecting the harmony in life and serene expression of the soul. A luminary in the avant-garde art movement in China during the 1990s, Yin eulogises his spiritual and emotional resonance with youth culture, ruminating on prosperous new beginnings.
Yin presents the life force of the mountains and rivers as China’s cultural symbol, while respecting the spirit of nature. His artistic repertoire memorialises the majestic Song Mountain in Henan province, one of China’s Five Great Mountains, paying homage to its mystifying beauty and revered figures who once resided there.
Traditional techniques, accentuated by the use of bitumen and mineral pigments instill intellectual symbolism in his works. His visceral brushstrokes and meticulous choice of medium preserve historic affinities with the land, while stirring the hearts of the observer.
Each impasto layer overflows with meanings, revealing the dimensions of colours and texture of paint: luscious shades of reds, the revitalising greens and ecstatic blues. Energy of colours illuminates the scenery, revealing the footprints of nature and the path towards enlightenment.
