Linda Gallery presents the solo sculpture exhibition ‘A Pastoral Song’ by Chen Jinqing from 4 to 19 July 2026 in the main atrium on the ground floor of Paragon, Orchard Road, Singapore.
Celebrated contemporary sculptor Chen Jinqing has officially unveiled his latest artistic explorations, further cementing his reputation as one of Asia’s most philosophically profound figurative sculptors. Working primarily in high-polish stainless steel, bronze, and 24K gold leaf, Chen’s latest creations continue his deeply poetic investigation into nature, childhood innocence, and the spiritual endurance of the human soul.
‘A Pastoral Song’ draws inspiration from the hymn of life, celebrating the harmonious connection between humanity and nature, while also illustrating Chen Jinqing’s spiritual journey as an individual over the years. His sculptures seek to construct an ideal that traverses the realms of memory and imagination, beyond real-world forms. The deer, phoenixes, youths and flora depicted in his works collectively exude a gentle, spiritual aura, embodying the artist’s profound contemplation of his homeland, nature and the essence of life.
As a child, he would frequently shape the red clay from his hometown in Anxi, Fujian, into various forms with his creative sparks. That joyful spontaneity continues to be the wellspring that nurtures the innocent spirit in his artistic endeavors.
Years of living in Beijing has allowed him to integrate that with deeper reflection, ultimately giving rise to an evolved spiritual state of being that retains its innocence.
