Myles Young’s ‘A View to Yourself’ offers an introspective, visually rich journey through imagined landscapes – places described by the artist as “nowhere in particular.” These scenes feel simultaneously familiar and foreign, inviting viewers into a space where identity, memory, and perception overlap. The exhibition positions the viewer not as a passive observer but as a participant in the creation of meaning.
Characterised by vibrant botanicals, surreal structures, and disorienting perspectives, Young’s works challenge traditional landscape conventions. His process combines digital sketches, spontaneous markmaking, and layered textures in oil and acrylic – resulting in compositions that feel both intuitive and intricately constructed. In pieces like Peekaboo (2025), “bizarre leaves, impossible skies, and twisting plants” suggest a realm of emotional projection and psychological resonance.
