Adolescent Wonderland & Adolescent Wonderland IRevisited) constitutes 31 limited edition photographs that capture Indigenous life through the lens of an Indigenous person. Showcased with the Open Hands Exhibition which is part of Tarnanthi 2020. As Artistic Director Nici Cumpston OAM recants in her opening remarks for the event/exhibition : “In the hands of Naomi Hobson, photography is reframed. Photography has a long history as a colonising agent, used to measure and define Aboriginal people and to record their incarceration, but for Naomi it is simply a means of presenting the colourful daily life in her community of Coen, on Cape York Peninsula.” Enjoy the playful imagery of Naomi’s hometown, the thoughtful compositions and stories she narrates in this bold set of works, which are set on a black and white background with the subject matter gloriously emblazed in colour.
