About The Artist
Born on 6th July 1987, Karjat, Maharashtra, India, the artist Ramdas Shankar Lobhi graduated with a Diploma in Fine Art from Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya Pune in 2012.
“I come from a very humble farming background from a small village called Beed in Maharashtra. I always enjoyed dawdling with pencils and colours right from the time I was a child and with time I realised that what started with being a source of joy had slowly and steadily become my passion. That was when I decided to study Art formally.
I love capturing rural landscapes and its people in their stark reality. I feel the simple but real beauty of the villages will not be here forever as I have witnessed before my very eyes the disappearing of so many native birds from our environment with the advent of modernisation. My art is probably my way of holding on to what I know may not be here too long and that which I know I will miss and yearn for always. I think my ability to be able to do this is the greatest gift Art has given me.
I have had the privilege of showcasing my works in many galleries and have been honoured to receive awards and accolades for the same.
Although I like using different mediums, oil remains my favourite.”
