Priding itself for veering away from the white cube format conventional for art fairs, the hotel-based boutique Art Apart Fair will bring art to the retail mall for the 7 ½ Edition. Its upcoming editions introduce a series of six segments showcasing and selling solo and group artists artworks – all within the premises of an upscale shopping mall at Isetan Wisma Atria.
The retail space will be transformed into a cozy home ambience. This concept allows the audience to better visualise art works in their own residences “The motivation for an art fair that makes a difference for Art Apart has always been the creation of a comfortable, home-like vibe,” said fair director Rosalind Lim. “Showing art in a shopping mall with a large home style setting is the first of it’s kind in Singapore. Yes, there are art galleries in shopping malls but not furnished in a home style environment.”
Furthermore, the theme for the upcoming editions break yet again new ground as the fair will work with curators to showcase artworks which have thus far been kept largely out of the public eye. And selected artists will paint not just on canvas but also on the furniture at the show. Artists Shinichi Wakasa and Koh Simizu artworks will not just be painted on canvas but also be printed on a small curated selection of fashion wear by local Sporean Fashion designer Afton Chan of Reckless Ericka.
The 7 ½ edition to be held on 11th May 2016 will focus on limited edition prints of Henri Matisse and Egon scheila.
