An Affiliate Project of Singapore Biennale 2016
Gillman Barracks has commissioned an Affiliate Project for Singapore Biennale 2016, ArteFACT; Unearthing Relics of the Future by Singapore artist, Francis Ng. With this outdoor installation, the artist explores the concept of space within the context and effects of modernisation in Singapore. As a society and its people progress, artefacts are created, remolded, destroyed and often discarded. Where then do these artefacts reside or find a place they belong to?
ArteFACT aims to trigger conversations about our past, present and aspirations for the future, and what it means to hold on to a piece of Singapore. The artwork is a collaborative showcase, and will bring together practitioners from different fields, spanning education, musical and public relations.
