Showcasing short films from India, Vietnam, Philippines and Singapore
What can film footage from the past say about our future? 19 short films will address this question at Objectifs this July as part of the Asian Film Focus: Time Machine. The programme of screenings and talks will be themed around notions of archival and found footage in the context of contemporary filmmaking in Asia, highlighting works from Vietnam, India, Philippines and Singapore.
The films span a broad variety of topics, which include intimate family histories shot on 8mm, wider commentaries on politics and culture crafted from mainstream films, and experiments with Super8 film and found footage. Within the Singapore selection, the filmmakers featured range from established names such as Liao Jiekai, to first time filmmaker Adar Ng.
