Basic materials and design processes are often overshadowed by final outcomes. This exhibition explores the iterative process of developing products through drawings, models and works by students from BA(Hons) Product Design.
The exhibition presents prototypes of stools made by Level 3 students that communicate intrinsic qualities of Scandinavian design, such as the use of simple geometry, basic joinery and natural materials. Also presented are products and utensils made by Level 2 students, who have responded to a brief inspired by the television series Chef’s table. The products and utensils highlight the creative and theatrical nature of gastronomy, particularly in public and social settings. Maquettes and sketches demonstrating various ideas and models tested by the students are displayed alongside the final works.
