Balancing the World is a solo exhibition by Singapore-based Australian artist Belinda Fox. Multidisciplinary artist Belinda Fox is in the midst of an extremely dynamic period in her career. Fox held a sell out show in Singapore in 2013, followed by very successful shows in Hong Kong and the Korea International Art Fair (KIAF). The first half of 2015 brought a ceramics collaboration between Fox and noted Singapore performance artist and ceramicist Jason Lim. In late 2015 she had another sell-out show at the Sydney Contemporary Art Fair and saw the publication of her artist book, Back to the Start. Her solo exhibition Balancing the World with Chan Hampe Galleries in January of 2016 takes place during the key Singapore Art Week period and will include a variety of artist talks and events. A selection of ceramics from her collaboration with Jason Lim will be included in the show.
Working in paper, pen, watercolour, encaustic, ceramics and sculpture, this former master printmaker has boldly explored mediums and modes in her quest to articulate her experience and concerns, most often related to humans and nature and both the hope and doubt inherent in that precarious relationship. Central to Fox’s work is her process, it is with this consistence and action that she creates meaning and translates her themes and motifs across the variety of mediums in which she works.
