Prof. Liu Po-Chun
Being Human: Forging Fields of Experience is an exhibition presented by SCULPTURE 2052 that showcases the visionary works of Taiwanese artist Prof. Liu Po-Chun at Artspace@Helutrans. Prof. Liu is a renowned sculptor and professor at the National Taiwan University of Arts, celebrated for his innovative use of recycled industrial steel. His work explores themes of strength, frailty, and human resilience, with sculptures that transform discarded industrial objects into powerful symbols of protection and inner strength.
Prof. Liu’s larger-than-life steel bodies surge up from the floor like urban giants, expanded to fill the room and choreographed into a maze of corridors, thresholds, and sudden openings. Welded plates, beams, and recast fragments become towering human forms that bend sightlines and bounce echoes, pulling you to slip between ribs of metal, brush past textured seams, and discover shifting vistas at every turn. It’s part sculpture, part architecture, part adventure – an immersive passage where audiences don’t just view the work; they navigate it, feel its gravity, and leave marked by its scale.
