Established watercolourist Aaron Gan has come together with Li Ying, the founder of Ying The Label, one of Singapore’s top designers, to develop a unique ART meets FASHION collaboration to celebrate Singapore’s National Day 2018.
Beyond Art is the end result of their year-long collaboration. A limited edition line consisting of 6 dresses, 6 capes and other accessories, this collection utilizes the latest innovation in fashion technology to produce a collection that brings out the vibrant palette, translucency and details of Aaron’s original paintings. It is the first time in Singapore that a fashion designer— Ying — has collaborated with a prominent local fine artist—watercolourist Aaron Gan—to create a range of garments that incorporates the artist’s paintings as part of their design.
Phuay Li Ying, an avid believer of art and business, started Ying The Label in 2015. She had a vision to create wearable art that has a story to tell. In the span of 3 years, she achieved multiple successes, collaborating with politicians and prestigious companies like DBS. Established in 2015, YING is a local womenswear label known for its one-of-a-kind, instinctive and arty prints created with water colour paintings. In its three years of history, the company has ventured beyond the fashion industry. The company has explored various art and business avenues, and received the honour of collaborating with politicians and prestigious companies like DBS, translating its artworks into various forms of products.
Aaron Gan is the 2015 UOB Painting of the Year, Gold Award, Established Artist Category, Singapore winner. Following his numerous sell-out shows, Aaron’s artworks have been collected and commissioned widely both in Singapore and internationally. These include The Prime Minister’s Office, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, GIC, Wheelock Properties, Julius Baer, The Association of Banks in Singapore and others. In 2017, he collaborated with Nespresso on a regional media campaign spanning Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. In 2018, Aaron was appointed the Art Ambassador for Faber-Castell, Singapore.
