Beyond the Corporeal Existence explores how three European artists reimagine the human body, through distinct and nuanced lenses. As women reclaiming the portrayal of women, their works move between physical reality and imagined or ethereal spaces, creating a layered dialogue on presence, identity, and representation. This interplay reflects the multifaceted nature of contemporary female practice, amplified by the context of their representation by Gillian Jason Gallery, a third-generation female-led space dedicated exclusively to women artists.
Jenya Datsko’s paintings are grounded in figurative stillness, capturing introspective moments. In contrast, Megan Baker and Eleanor Johnson suspend time through painterly echoes of Old Masters; Carracci, Rubens, Matteis, and Taraval, invoking memory, gesture, and transformation.
