As part of a partnership with the BIDEODROMO International Experimental Film and Video Festival in Spain, (blank) Experimental Film Festival launches its first edition dedicated to avant-garde cinema. It will present experimental works across three categories: regional standouts, student-made films, and films rarely or never-before-seen in a category unique to the festival, “Exhumed”. The festival will run on 19th September 2026 at 10square.
The Festival will boast 21 films from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Spain, as well as a Festival Village to promote an exchange of thoughts and discussion. Talks are organised alongside programme partners The Substation and NTU School Of Art, Design and Media to expand an appreciation for experimental works. Speakers include internationally-esteemed guests like Koen de Rooij (International Film Festival Rotterdam) and Qila Gill (Berlinale, BFI London Film Festival Experimenta), as well as Daniel Hui and Nelson Yeo for the local panel.
Following the Festival, select films from the “Exhumed section” will screen at the Guggenheim (Bilbao) as part of a cultural exchange spotlighting Southeast Asian works to international audiences.
