A special, Singapore edition DVD of the award-winning Singapore film Apprentice will be launched by Objectifs on 27 July 2017, at an intimate exhibition about the film by director Boo Junfeng.
The DVD will have several exclusive features. It will come with a 40-page book containing an in-depth interview with the director and never before seen production notes, sketches, and behind the scenes photos. The DVD will also have a special selection of deleted scenes from the film, which have never been screened.
To bring audiences closer to the film, Junfeng will present a 2-day exhibition that will share his filmmaking journey, from production notes when he was conceptualizing the film’s plot in its early stages, to the film’s costumes. The centerpiece of the exhibition will be the hangman’s lever, a crucial prop in the film that symbolizes the internal struggle of the main protagonist, Aiman.
The dramatic film about a young prison officer who becomes the apprentice of the chief executioner made waves in 2016 when it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival under the Un Certain Regard section. Apprentice subsequently travelled to more than 60 film festivals all over the world, winning awards at prestigious events such as the Busan International Film Festival (Best Rising Director) and the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival (NETPAC Award). Outside of Singapore, it was released in internationally in theatres in countries such as the UK, Thailand, France, Malaysia and North America.
Junfeng, along with cast members Fir Rahman and Mastura Ahmad, will be present during the launch on 27 July. The exhibition will continue to be open to the public on 28 and 29 July.
During the opening and the exhibition, the DVD will be available to purchase at a special promotional price of $28 (usual price $30) only at Objectifs.
