With a love for all things quirky and cats, Alex Lim aka The Unskilled Boy returns with a vibrant series that’s impossible to ignore. With his signature pop-art flair, a fondness for the slightly off-kilter, and an unabashed love for cats, the 20-year-old autistic artist has unveiled CAT NATION, a month-long online presentation of 60 special feline-inspired paintings.
Presented in collaboration with the Cat Welfare Society (CWS) Singapore, CAT NATION launches today to coincide with International Cat Day (Aug 8) and Singapore’s 60th birthday. This is Alex’s second collab with CWS – the first, in 2021, raised over $2,000 through the sale of more than 40 artworks.
This time, he’s upping the ante with 60 works on wood panels and linen canvases in different sizes from 21cm x 26cm, priced from SGD90. Shipping cost is borne by the artist. Thirty-five percent of gross sales from CAT NATION series will go to support CWS’s tireless work in advocating for community cats and responsible ownership.
CAT NATION opened on Aug 8 with 20 artworks. The next two Fridays – Aug 15 & 22 – will see the release of 10 paintings each, and the final 20 paintings will be released on the last Friday on Aug 29.
