Experience the blend of tradition and modernity at “Celebrations: Tradition Reimagined” (歡聚一堂), a collaborative exhibition by renowned pioneer generation artist Goh Beng Kwan and esteemed local furniture brand Commune. This thoughtfully curated exhibition reinterprets family values, cultural traditions, and the timeless appeal of auspicious symbols in celebration of Chinese New Year. The exhibition comprises 40 of Goh’s collages and mixed media works, created from recycled red packets, that hold deep personal significance. Many of the works showcase auspicious symbols and colours, with unusual tones and juxtapositions created by Goh’s extraordinary sense of colour and ability to create harmonious compositions from a myriad of materials and shapes. A small collection of works will also incorporate recycled materials from Commune, including wood and leather, emphasising themes of renewal and transformation central to the new year spirit.
Beyond the exhibition, visitors can immerse themselves in hands-on creativity with exclusive upcycling workshops led by Artist Goh Beng Kwan. Held on select weekends, these interactive sessions offer a rare opportunity to craft personalized, meaningful art pieces to take home — a perfect way to connect with heritage while embracing sustainability.
