‘A Traveller’s Diary’ will be Chang Fee Ming’s first solo exhibition and book launch at One East Asia Gallery in Singapore. It is a continuation of his travelling exhibition which kicked off at the Bamboo Gallery in Ubud, Bali, in 2013 and then followed by his first solo in London with One East Asia in the summer of 2014.
The exhibition will showcase paintings and sketches of the vanishing sights of Southeast Asia and beyond by Chang Fee Ming originating from a single private collection. Through ‘A Traveller’s Diary’, Fee Ming will take the viewers to a series of epic journeys by recording old ways of life for millions in Asia before they disappear for good. His outlook is protective and affectionate. He seeks to preserve the rhythm and customs of communal life and to celebrate it.
The hard cover book published in connection with this exhibition is a celebration of friendship forged through art between the artist and the collector for over two decades. The book attempts to explore not only the artist and the man, but also the personal narrative and the meanings invested in this collection of a single artist’s work.
