Cows, buffalo, oxen, and other ungulates once roamed Singapore as part of our daily domestic landscape, providing labour and working alongside people. As the city went through rapid development, the presence of cattle has disappeared, though traces of them remain in its streets, culture and memories. Chronicling Cattle is a digital project that farms memories, experiences and human connections with cattle within Singapore through images, anecdotes and histories. Through a series of conversations, the topic of cattle acts as channel in which through stories of encounters, tradition, and community are produced. Chronicling Cattle is a project by visual artist Divaagar and was conceived through NAC Community Arts Residency, an initiative by National Arts Council Singapore, in collaboration with Indian Heritage Centre.
