Goh Abigail’s practice focuses on the interrelationship between objects, space and sound. The question of how can sound(energy) be manifested through materialism and space? How would objects perform in sustention, and how would energy that starts from a point in time transmit itself in a singular space? (accumulate, dissipate, resonate?)
Her objects are often receptacles with an ability to contain, or possesses both openings and endings. The artist focuses a lot at empty spaces, and empty spaces within objects. There is an idea of emptiness that has always been in her making. The artist has dedicated her time wondering what is inside the things she cannot see, what it contains, what is in its silence. How would it be to occupy its space, to fill in that space, or to show that there is something in that emptiness.
