da:ns focus by Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay returns with an exciting year-round season of three themed weekends in 2026. Each weekend focuses on a particular theme or genre, from contemporary dance, to ballet, to the distinct voices and creative impulses of Asian artists.
Anchoring the three da:ns focus weekends this year is an exceptional trio of internationally acclaimed dance makers—Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, founder and choreographer of Rosas (Belgium) in On Loop, our contemporary dance weekend taking place from 23 – 25 Apr; The Royal Ballet (UK) in Ballet by the Bay from 24 – 28 Jun; and Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan in Connect Asia Now (CAN) from 15 – 18 Oct.
Together, these three powerhouses represent distinct yet equally influential trajectories in the global dance landscape today. De Keersmaeker’s rigorous and revolutionary contemporary language has shaped generations of choreographers, while The Royal Ballet boasts an enduring legacy of classical excellence, and Cloud Gate continues its artistic evolution with Asian philosophies and aesthetics.
