Confluence Art Space introduces its first exhibition of the year, “Days of Yore” — a group exhibition of 19 exquisite works by nine Nanyang artists honouring our history through art. Featured in this exhibition are creations by the titans of Singapore art Chen Wen Hsi, Cheong Soo Pieng, Lim Cheng Hoe, and Liu Kang, as well as important second-generation artists Lim Tze Peng, Tan Choh Tee, Siew Hock Meng, Leng Joon Wong, and Wee Shoo Leong.
The highlight of this exhibition is a rare early ink painting by Cheong Soo Pieng, Bali Life, was completed shortly after the artist’s seminal trip to Bali in 1952. The painting, which has never been publicly exhibited, is one of the few artworks by Cheong in the traditional Chinese handscroll format and tells the story of life in Bali and the people’s distinct culture.
