Paintings Etc presents works of 14 Indian artists in a group show titled “Doors of Perception”. The exhibition features established names like Niren Sen, Kalicharan Gupta, Manoj Kachangal, Vijender Sharma , R K Yadav and newer talents like Manoj Balyan, Ravinder Tomer, Vazda Khan and Gurukinkar Dhang.
The exhibition takes its title from a phrase in William Blake’s 1793 poem ‘The Marriage of Heaven and Hell’ Blake wrote “If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is: infinite.” We only see a little of what actually is through the lens of our past experiences. Our individual perceptions are clouded by our innate psychological tendencies and by our unique interaction with the environment in which we exist. If only we could see things clearer, not only physically but spiritually and emotionally will we understand the true meaning of life. The show is an inquiry into the notion of perception, exploring various interpretations of the subject.
