EIDOS is a trio exhibition by BODHI (b. Malaysia), MOMO (b. China), and Christine R. Bay (b. Singapore).
Inspired by the Greek philosopher PLATO’s ‘Theory of Forms’, EIDOS, which translates to “essence” in Greek, aims to portray the artists’ personal ideal visualization of their artistic practice and interests. By attempting to envisage an ideal and non-physical essences into physical artworks, the artworks’ concepts juxtapose the Platonistic philosophical theory of artworks being imitations of the world, which itself is an imitation of the “aspatial” and “atemporal” Form.
Despite having dissimilar artistic themes, BODHI, MOMO, and Christine R. Bay present similarly vibrant artworks with complimentary styles composed mainly of figures integrated with abstract compositions within each artwork.
