Installation artist Angela Chong has been creating fictional realities in her installations. Using light projections with found objects to present the presence of absence in dark enclosures, she entices her audience to question the emotional attachments between the object and its owner, in the context of personal history and site-specific darkness. A recipient of NAC scholarship (Postgraduate), she is currently investigating intentions of darkness and the notion of light as image. She is focusing her research on news-specific media to exemplify our understanding of information and ‘truths’ on the subject of conflict, and examine the hierarchy relationship between image and text.
