This major solo exhibition brings together 24 oil-on-canvas Blue Fire Horse Collection works by internationally acclaimed Beijing-based artist Ma Dongmin (马东民). It marks the first oil-on-canvas exhibition hosted by Leica in Southeast Asia.
The exhibition’s title, “The Decisive Moment”, is the precise instant in which composition, emotion and meaning come into alignment. This ethos finds a natural parallel in Ma’s practice. Using a Leica Q camera, he observes and photographs horses in their natural environment, studying their form, structure and movement. These captured moments become the foundation of his paintings. On canvas, he moves beyond form, expressing the threshold of motion, the breath before the gallop, the tension before release. Here, photography, painting and design converge, united by a shared pursuit of timing, instinct and expression.
