First Storeys is a theatrical installation that explores resettlement from the 50s-90s. The former Bukit Ho Swee Community Centre will be turned into a ‘housing development office’, and audiences will get to experience what it’s like to be uprooted from their home, like the residents who were resettled from kampungs to HDB flats.
When the lease of flats in older estates expire, resettlement may soon be a concern for many Singaporeans. Local artist Sean Cham will be able to share more about the lesser-known stories he uncovered, as well as his inspiration and motivations behind the project.
