This exhibition showcases research and works by students from BA(Hons) Fashion Media and Industries and BA(Hons) Fashion Design and Textiles in collaboration with students from LASALLE’s School of Contemporary Music and Puttnam School of Film & Animation, and Hongik University, Seoul.
The students were asked to respond to the theme ‘Force of Nature’, which references the title of an exhibition on display at the Museum of theFashion Institute of Technology (FIT), New York until 18 November. The exhibition at the FIT explores the relationship between fashion design and the natural world, such as biomimicry (the imitation of natural processes in principles of design), and the use of biomaterials to make fashion textiles and garments. The research and works in the exhibition at the ICA Singapore extend these ideas, and draw inspiration from Southeast Asian culture, flora and fauna.
