An exhibition featuring new works by Justin Lee, Yeoh Wee Hwee and Yeo Shih Yun.
For its very first exhibition, INSTINC x MOYEM is pleased to invite three Singapore artists to produce new works, conceived and created for this exhibition, and focused on one of the main issues of aesthetics and artistic research in contemporary times: the relationship between form and matter. In which ways can a form materialize? How does form affect matter? How does matter affect form? The artists are committed to suggest different possible answers to some of the basic questions for art in, in which matter becomes form and form reveals itself into matter. The title of the show suggests the multiple senses and meanings of the relation between form and matter, a necessary unit and a dialectical contrast at the same time.
Artist Justin Lee’s new series “Beautiful People” created in watercolour on paper hopes to create an environment that allows people to acknowledge and pay tribute to beautiful people in life that brings self-esteem and happiness to our society. Artist Yeoh Wee Hwee’s new body of works explore the tension of space and language of surface by juxtaposing forms created by mass produced materials against found objects. Artist Yeo Shih Yun’s new works play with silkscreen paints and ink and abstract forms. These unique, one -of-a-kind paintings created by using screen printing and painting together. The artist would like to call this: Screenpaintings.
