An enriching line-up awaits both young and old at ION Art Gallery this June – whether it is revisiting classic oil paintings or getting creative juices flowing – it is sure to be a rewarding month of art appreciation for the entire family.
Kicking off the school holidays on a colourful note, ACT3 International presents Sweet, an extravaganza of visual arts, workshops and storytelling for children aged 4 to 8. Inspired by Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, ION Art Gallery will magically transform into a multi-sensorial land of desserts. Children will be entertained by Sweets Supervisor, Kimberly as she brings them on an adventure through three exciting workshops.
In an art exhibition involving the whole family – Avatars & Cloud Babies will get both the little ones and parents creatively stimulated. Through teamwork, families will see their individual, abstract doodles come to life collectively as Cloud Babies. Their completed drawings will be pieced together to form a huge, pop-up mural with floating shapes frolicking in free space.
From the whimsical to the traditional, local veteran Nai Swee Leng brings his exquisite touch of Chinese ink paintwork to the gallery, in his first solo exhibition in 17 years. In Expressing Emotions, Nanyang Ink Works by Nai Swee Leng, Nai explores the relationship between the old and contemporary through four refreshing aspects – Elegance 清逸雅致, Refreshing Tunes 古韵新声, Spirited Ink 笔墨情趣 and Shades of Nanyang 蕉风椰影.
To round up this month’s artistic adventures, Singaporean artist Ling Yang Chang will be staging KALEIDOSCAPE – Ling Yang Chang’s 10th Solo Exhibition. As an artist with an affinity for Chinese brush painting, the collection will showcase his new oil and acrylic works as he explores the environment of old towns and cityscapes, and interprets scenes of life within them.
