from Within is a visual art exhibition conceptualized by curator Ernest Chan, featuring the works of a diverse group of practitioners from across the globe: Chiam Shock Yuen, Claude Bencheikh, Kusum Banerjee, Malin Lenz, Max Lee, May Ho, May BB Lui, Todd Tok, Upasana Goenka and Yip Lee Kheng. Previously exhibited at the Alliance Française de Singapour 2012 in France and Poland, from Within continues to establish cross-cultural exchange by convening contemporary artists from different countries. Following the exhibition in Singapore, it will next be showcased in Bangkok, Thailand in 2019.

The works presented in this exhibition are a collection of the thoughts, experiences and observations of the artists made during their travels. It is also a reflection of the personal encounters and the imaginary preconceived idea of different locations and landscapes. Audiences are encouraged to consider each art piece through different lenses and ultimately walk away enriched with fresh perspectives.
