Aung Ko (Myanmar) is selected to attend an artist residency in France at MAC VAL from July to December 2021. Intersections and Chan + Hori Contemporary will donate all the proceeds of the sales of the artworks from Diary form the Dark to contribute to this residency.
Aung Ko is a book worm and a magazines collector. Diary from the Dark is a series of drawings inspired by journalistic pieces featured in international news magazine Newsweek and by his own travels around the world. Like many artists of his generation, Aung Ko is haunted by the memory of tragic events he has heard of or personally witnessed in his country.
Although reflecting anguish, these drawings aim to tell us that mindful solutions exist, which can make our world better, if only we want to apply them.
