the drum mountain is an installation of the active Mount Galunggung in West Java, Indonesia. It is the third of U5’s portraits of 17 Javanese volcanoes based on their work within the broader research project, Tourism and Cultural Heritage: A Case Study on the Explorer Franz Junghuhn, based at the ETH Zurich Future Cities Laboratory in Singapore. Adrianne Joergensen, an architectural and graphic designer who coordinates the project, presents her Volcanarium, a graphical index of historical, scientific and anecdotal impressions of each volcano. The subsequent U5 portraits will be realized at Crater Studios as installations, events and performances with participation from artists, students, researchers, and the public.
