Gong’s works can be characterized by his vibrant and energetic depiction of life in the urban city through the most common scenes observed and experienced daily as we live our lives in the city – highways, roads, traffic signs and road symbols.

With regards to the use of these subjects in his works, Gong relates this to his passion for driving and the attraction he has of the clean lines and simple design of the traffic signs which has become a permanent fixture in our modern urban scape.
