HERITAGE Fine Art will have its auction start at 1pm until finished on Sunday, 8 December 2019 at Masterpiece Art Center & Cafe in Jakarta, Indonesia. A wide range of collections of modern and contemporary art will be exhibited during the public preview from 6 to 7 December 2019, such as works from Lee Man Fong, Hendra Gunawan, Widayat, Basoeki Abdullah, Srihadi Soedarsono, Arie Smit, Popo Iskandar, Fadjar Sidik and and many more.

Lee Man Fong

One of the highlights of the upcoming auction is a rare horses painting from Lee Man Fong. As an oriental artist, who received honor by critics and collectors across Asia, Lee has succeeded in combining Chinese with Western painting that created a unique “Man-fong style”. He was able to render it on canvas vividly, creating a personal expression through observation of life and nature that surrounds him. In composition, the work is faithful to a Chinese painting, with a balance between substance and void, light and darkness, bright colors and subdued tones.

Another works also featured in this sale is from Widayat known for its “decora-magic” style. The themes of Widayat’s works are mostly centered on landscapes, flora and fauna, actual daily life, myths legends, and religious – spiritual issues. The painting “Keluarga Ayam” (Chicken Family) shows the decorative elements derived from folk motifs. They are rich in context, texture and technique with repetitive basic elements.
