I-Ching with Arts, Tan Khoon Yong’s Works Singapore 2018 is the latest solo exhibition by Grand Master Tan Khoon Yong, who reflects his life experiences in his artwork through the meticulous strokes of his paint brush.
His unique art pieces revolve around the idea of attaining rebirth by removing the shackles in one’s mind and is represented in a three-theme series which provides a multi-faceted view on the cycle of life – Mt. Fuji · Man serves as an unrealistic yet ideal reminder of one’s beginnings, while Harmony · Joy represents man bedazzled and entrapped in the radiance of life. Mountain · Man tells the tale of the duality of the essence of life, and the hollowness of material wealth.
As a renowned Feng Shui grand master, Tan Khoon Yong’s expertise in geomancy has brought him worldwide recognition. He has worked on notable projects including Parkview Green Beijing, Suzhou Jinji Lake International Golf Club, Paragon Singapore and DUO Singapore, as well as conducted more than 1000 seminars worldwide, sharing the age-old studies of Feng Shui. His art journey can be traced back to strict teachings from his grandfather, who was also a Feng Shui practitioner. He taught Grand Master Tan to observe the Feng Shui landscapes and formations before documenting them in detailed drawings. This developed his drawing skills, setting his foundation as an artist.
Tan Khoon Yong made his solo exhibition debut in 2014, at Beijing’s Parkview Green Art Gallery. He has since hosted another two exhibitions, and a portion of the proceeds from his exhibition in 2016 were donated to charity.
With a niche in perspective painting, Khoon Yong’s works allow audiences to gleam unique insights to each individual artwork from the various viewing angles. He uses various techniques, such as ink splash, fingertip flicks and free-flowing paint to create innovative Feng Shui art.
