
In an Instant: Polaroid at the Intersection of Art and Technology offers insight into the history of Polaroid photography through a wide range of iconic Polaroid artworks, artefacts and vintage memorabilia, while exploring the impact of instant photography and the social phenomenon of instantaneity on people today.
The exhibition examines the incredible evolution of instantaneity and presents the history of Polaroid photography through a creative interplay of art and technology. It offers a nuanced and unique approach by showcasing a range of artworks and artefacts, while providing interactive experiences and diverse observations about the digital landscape from various voices in our local community.
In addition to offering a nostalgic throwback to Polaroid’s heyday, the exhibition also provides food for thought on how social media mimics the Polaroid experience and what ‘in an instant’ means in today’s social media landscape, with commentary from local influencers. Interactive exhibition experiences include themed Polaroid photography opportunities, a selfie station and a photo booth.
