Since his childhood, Jason Tay Lim Lim (b. Singapore 1952) has learned scriptwriting from his father and loves drawing and calligraphy at a very young age.
He was under tuitage of local artist Stephen Leong, as well as the late Chinese ink painting master Wu Shigui, and the calligraphy teacher Zhang You Shuo. He taught ink painting and calligraphy in elementary and middle schools since 1990, and for more than 20 years he had participated in joint painting and calligraphy exhibitions as well as solo exhibitions. He has also won numerous awards and often donates his works for charitable causes.
His paintings of flowers and birds are mainly divided into ink pigment sketches and Chinese brush sketches. However due to the influence of Chinese paintings, Jason’s creation of ink wash paintings has attracted the interest of many art collectors.
Part of the sales proceeds will go to ArtSE – A Social Enterprise (RaiSE member) that supports and empowers youth with special needs and persons-with-disabilities in Singapore by providing art training and job-match services, thereby creating livelihood sustainability for these individuals.
