From 1 Nov to 22 Nov 2017, Here\Now @ SPRMRKT Daily will display Inkpulse #3 by Yeo Shih Yun. The artwork is particularly aligned with the purpose of Here\Now as it captures the perfect moment: when time stands still.

Why is the perfect moment one in which time stands still? In her artist statement, Yeo muses,
“It is a time full of the present, when the past is left behind and the future is set aside. It is a special time of focused attention and heightened awareness.”
Using her signature approach of fusing traditional forms with contemporary mediums, the captured moment on display in Here\Now features a bold slash of traditional Chinese ink on paper. Inkpulse #3 is unpremeditated, every mark on paper representing an instinctive gesture that was inspired by the moment and action themselves. The work therefore becomes an expression of spontaneity or, in Yeo’s own words, “about the dramatic sense of ‘now’ each moment – both real and surreal – possesses.” Each mark made on paper, no matter how impulsive, is always final.
In support, SPRMRT Daily will retail the monograph during the period of the exhibition for $89.90 (price subj. to GST).
