INSIGHTS provides insights into the artistic trajectory of Jeremy Sharma (b. 1977) and Esmond Loh (b. 1995). The show features selected works from Sharma spanning from 2013 – 2020, delineating his interest in drawing in the age of mechanical, industrial and digital reproduction – to the current juncture within Sharma’s body of paintings.
Concurrently, the show features Loh’s largest painting to date – completed during his time at the Slade School of Fine Art in London, in 2018 – and two additional paintings from the same series. Loh’s last two solo exhibitions with the gallery can be traced from these works – in which viewers are introduced to Loh’s formative ideas of ‘memory-scapes’ – that tap into collective emotions such as nostalgia, displacement, and quiet absurdity.
