Premiering at ArtScience Museum on 6 June, Into the Ocean: Journey Beneath is a landmark exhibition in collaboration with OceanX, one of the world’s leading ocean exploration organisations. Conceived as a flagship OceanX Education initiative, the exhibition invites visitors on a descent through the depths of the sea, from the sunlit surface waters to the darkest reaches of the ocean. At the heart of the exhibition is extraordinary footage captured by OceanX’s state-of-the-art research vessel, OceanXplorer, including those never shown before publicly.
In an era of accelerating environmental change and the urgent need for ocean conservation, Into the Ocean showcases the pioneering work of OceanX and pairs it with contributions from marine biologists, environmental scientists, researchers, creative technologists and artists. Through this interdisciplinary approach, the exhibition fosters a holistic understanding of ocean ecologies that is both scientifically rigorous and emotionally resonant.
The exhibition is structured as a deep-sea voyage, unfolding across five immersive zones – Descent, Photic Zone, Twilight Zone, Aphotic Zone and Resurface. Throughout the experience, visitors will encounter rarely seen deep-sea species including specimens on loan from Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum.
By integrating scientific exploration and breathtaking images with deep-sea storytelling, physical specimens, art and interactive science, Into the Ocean takes visitors on an unforgettable voyage into the ocean’s hidden frontiers, revealing a multispecies world where ocean health and humanity’s survival are inextricably intertwined.
