Representing some of the best names in the contemporary art world, iPRECIATION presents the iconic Taichi Series outdoor exhibition by world renowned Taiwanese sculptor Ju Ming. Breathtakingly set within the lush and green landscape of the historic Singapore Botanic Gardens, 15 monumental Taichi sculptures will be strategically placed to provide local and regional art lovers, as well as the general public, a chance to enjoy art in an outdoor space instead of the usual art gallery setting. This outdoor art project will be the first public exhibition of Ju Ming’s Taichi Series in monumental bronze.
The Taichi Series epitomises the perfect harmony between art and nature, where natural features can be turned into basic idioms of artistic expressions. Since the 20th century, the main thrust of Asian contemporary sculpture development lay in the new interpretation of forms that interconnect modern civilization and its traditional culture. Rooted in the Chinese tradition, Ju Ming’s sculptures seek to marry the essence of Chinese painting and calligraphy with his distinct, precise and poetic forms. In his Taichi Series, the concrete images of its human subjects exist in purely abstract blocks and volumes. This ideal collaboration with the Singapore Botanic Gardens to display the awesome sculptures against the two backdrop of mature greenery enable seamless blending into the surroundings, creating an interaction with nature and a pleasant engagement for audiences.
