Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay presents five productions by Singapore artists at its 16th Kalaa Utsavam – Indian Festival of Arts which takes place from 17 – 26 November 2017. These include four new works that pushes artistic boundaries—a contemporary dance performance from: The Platform by Raka Maitra’s Chowk Productions commissioned by Esplanade; a children’s play Garuda – King of Birds written by Pooja Nansi produced by Esplanade; a cross-cultural dance-theatre programme, Anjaneyam – Hanuman’s Ramayana co-produced by Esplanade and Apsaras Arts, and a new play Sharul Weds Sharul featuring stand-up comedian Sharul Channa. In addition, there will also be a special concert Groove to My Rhythm which charts veteran percussionist Mohamed Noor’s journey with Esplanade, playing with different bands since the centre opened 15 years ago.
