For over 50 years, the world-renowned photographer and activist-artist Sebastião Salgado has dedicated himself to documenting humankind and nature on photographic expeditions across the globe.
In this keynote talk, Salgado discusses the impetus behind Amazônia, his experiences photographing the vast wilderness in “the lungs of the world”, and the importance of protecting the Amazon and its indigenous population.
This will be followed by additional perspectives from local and overseas speakers on the issues of conservation and reforestation. As main global sponsors of the Amazônia exhibition, Zurich Insurance will share about their work on the Zurich Forest Project in Brazil and the role of corporations in building climate resilience and supporting a sustainable future for all communities. Following this, Dr Chong Kwek Yan will be speaking about Singapore’s own forest ecological monitoring initiatives and how it contributes to efforts to protect and restore our remaining rainforests.
