As the title suggests, all the paintings in the exhibition by Leo Poloniecki are black & white – a powerful, monochromatic vision. With each of the works measuring 67 x 100 cm, these are big paintings with a big impact.
In terms of colours, the works are in direct contrast to Leo’s previous series – the E&A series – which were smaller in scale and bursting with bright, bold colours. But in common with the E&A Series, the new black & white paintings continue the artist’s interest in geometric form and structure.
Visual artist Marcel Heijnen, co-founder of Artistry said
“Leo’s new Black & White range forms a strong striking show on which to end the year which we are proud to present. His works are a bold balancing act between geometric shapes, rich texture and carefully considering shades of grey – yet they feel injected with just the right amount of tension and spontaneity. Simply stunning.
“I’m particularly excited about this show, these are the biggest paintings I’ve made so far in Singapore and I feel they are a good culmination to the investigations into geometric form that I’ve been focusing on this year.”
Leo’s work was recently selected by Saatchi Online curator Bridget Carron for her ‘Spotlight on Asia’ exhibition and is featured in this year’s International Contemporary Artists Yearbook.
