The Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), University of the Arts Singapore is proud to present Light permeates the wounds, by Ho Chi Minh City-based Hoang Duong Cam. Hoang is known for his multidisciplinary approach, incorporating elements from various creative fields – fine art, literary arts, film, and music into his practice.
Hoang’s first solo exhibition in Singapore features 19 large-scale abstract paintings that portray stories of the Vietnam War through the perspectives of various creators – artists, authors, filmmakers, and musicians who have inspired him through his life. Aligned to the theme of the Forum this year, the works hope to initiate dialogues and conversations about current issues that affect the world, and spotlight how the arts remains important—its role to educate, share history, express experiences, lift the spirits, bridge understanding, and heal communities.
